Release
In the online world we all have dreams. Large or small, we hold in our hearts a vision or reason why we’re here. Maybe it’s an online journal for family and friends, a sacred space for heart heavy words – helping us process our lives and encourage others. Maybe we’re taking steps towards a God whispered dream…we pray to write, to speak…to travel.
I’ve met so many of you in this space and I identify with the passion in your words. I want you to know the day you hit publish, on your very first post…you set yourself free. It was your day of release.
Maybe your story was shut up in shame. Or you were too timid to speak. The sound of your voice… holding you back in a world that would have you believe you aren’t… enough. Maybe you thought using your voice vain and hid behind the scenes. You sat in the back when God called you out. And now living in the tension of that just won’t do. You can’t deny your calling. You’ve been released. And I want to thank you, because your release, encourages mine.
I met Marcy Hanson and Chelle Wilson online. Sharing a journey of infertility and adoption, Marcy and I did the cyber chick click. I searched for Chelle online. Truth is, there aren’t many women of color out here. So I look for them. I notice when the virtual door opens and an “other” walks in. Chelle and I are also dance lovers and I trust my words with her wisdom. Sensing an undeniable kinship over dance and Christ, the pieces of our puzzles – fit. They’re members of my mastermind group. The one I haven’t formed but keeps me busy, in my head. I watch and learn from them online.
Not long after our meeting Marcy announced the release of her book No Maybe Baby. I retweeted her announcements and supported with a purchase. I was inspired by her. While I dreamed of writing a book, found it hard to admit I wanted to write a book – Marcy went and wrote one. She knows the feel of that book in her hands.
Chelle released an e-book last month, Lessons Learned From My Downward Facing Dog and Marcy announced the release of her second book yesterday. I’m telling you I can’t keep up with these women. They choose themselves everyday and use their voices and gifts to declare His glory. They aren’t waiting for permission. They’re walking in that glorious pre-approval we all talk about.
I’m a firm believer in timing and working in order with Gods plan. Chelle and Marcy make me think. While I’m dreaming and strategizing clearly these women are doing. Using their gifts in “right now” life and claiming their destiny. Releasing their words, on God propelled wings…to soar. I love them for that.
joining friends at Five Minute Friday for the prompt “release”
P.S. Writing this post compels me to share how much these women have inspired me. I’ve tinkered with a release of my own. Check me out here.

Lisha, good to “see” and hear you again on FMF. “I want you to know the day you hit publish on your very first post…you set yourself free. It was your day of release.” Wise, wise words, friend. I identify with them. Esther

Humbly Lori, humbly – I accept your words. You’ve been a light to me Lori and to so many others. Keep up the great work for Christ.
Love this post! I had a slow release, but am so thankful that I have found my voice through writing and on/off line communities. The freedom is refreshing. It took me awhile to really believe that my story and words and thoughts are worth sharing. Thank you for being willing and available to share your story.

Mine was slow too. I was years before I dared share my words publicly. Having a blog….for me is a miracle. Glad you’ve found encouragement to put your words out there and I’m glad we met. Always a joy to see you here.
